"Out of Stock" messages during check-out mean that the pipe has already sold, but I have not yet updated the catalog page to reflect its "Sold" status.

Here is a test-run pipe for an upcoming set that we're making to sell through Pipe & Pint. Each will be an unstained natural, in smooth and sandblast finishes, and each will include a handcut stem ring made of aged teak taken from the original decking of the USS Battleship North Carolina. Larry picked up this material on a vacation trip a few years ago, and I've been trying to find time to work it into a pipe project ever since. The keen-eyed will note that this is a little more expensive than a normal grade 3, but the extra is coverage for the material (It was sold to raise funds for the refitting of the battleship, now a tourist attraction) and the extra labor involved in cutting and fitting it. It's attractive material, with a dark brown coloration that fades to pale tan/gold and features a nicely iridescent depth to the wood.

While the Pipe & Pint set will all be normal-length pipes, I wanted to do this tester as a churchwarden since we haven't had an LB churchwarden available for a while. We really lucked out with the blast, which came out extremely deep and craggy, with a lot of surface detail. This was a pipe that was impossible to take a bad photo of!
