Name: The Author

Notes:  Yes, I know this isn't a proper author shape as defined by the Great Beards of the hobby.  But, I can't think of it as anything else - It just looks like something that a noted novelist would puff contentedly while thinking over his next few pages.

Positives:   BIG pipe (This could be good or bad).  A big pipe for a big smoker.  I was very torn about what to grade this pipe - between being flawless enough to leave unstained and having a really nice grain pattern, it probably could have been a grade 4.  But, it was hard as a rock and I wasn't able to get the sort of blast depth that I had hoped for, and it has one small sandpit still visible on the shank.  I dunno.  Someone will be getting a very nice example of a grade 3, I think.  The ring pattern is beautiful and the pale color should darken wonderfully through the years as it is smoked.  Open draw, passes a cleaner easily, yadda yadda..

Negatives:   One shank sandspot that should vanish after a couple smokes' worth of darkening.
