Name: Moebius Bolus #3

Notes: #3 of the Moebius Bolus shape is the smallest and cutest of the three. Typically, while #1 and #2 both have better grain, I prefer this shape over the other two and it is my favorite of the shape so far.

Positives: As I said above, I love the design and think this is the best rendition of it thus far. I stained it in the manner of the old Dunhill Shells, with a deep red understain which will gradually show through over the years as the pipe is handled. I'm pleased with our new photography setup, because it actually possible to see the slight reddish tint in the pictures, whereas before the pipes usually just looked flat black. This one has a handcut stem, but unlike #2 this one is cut from black acrylic rod instead of ebonite. I should mention that the grain, while not on par with 1&2, is still quite nice on its own, and it does compliment the shape nicely - I cut the pipe from plateau at an angle to allow the rings to curve with the direction of the shape's curvature. Finally, it has one of the better examples of my hand-signature that I've managed.

Negatives: I can't complain about anything on this one, it came out very nicely. I hope someday I can make a smooth version of this exact shape.
