Talbert Pipes Life in France Places Ranrouet

The Castle Ranrouet at Herbignac
We've been living here for months now but only recently got the time to take a quick walk through the ruins of the castle Ranrouet (pronounced in the Breton as Ran-roo-Ette) which is just down the road from us. It's a beautiful old site and well worth a visit for anyone traveling through the Herbignac area.

Me
Here I am sitting in the castle ruins amid the early Fall colors on a cool September day wishing I had a pipe...

The Entryway of the castle
The castle interior is open in the summer season and is accessed through this gateway, but it was locked up during our off-season visit.

Castle in the mist
I got lucky with this picture and captured a little bit of the eerie character of the ancient ruin.

Big trees
The castle is surrounded by huge old trees that were probably there when armored knights battled it out under their branches. Here Emily looks at the towers and provides a small bit of scale.
