Non-US buyers are responsible for all customs fees incurred in their country. "Out of Stock" messages during check-out mean that the pipe has already sold, but I have not yet updated the catalog page to reflect its "Sold" status. |
These Claw shapes are one of the few Goblin shapes that we'll happily repeat - I just like the design so much. I think this must be the fifth or sixth Claw that we've done since the first one, an unfortunately discarded pipe whose flawed stummel now resides in the workshop to serve as a model. This is a crosscut blast, which ordinarily doesn't make for a very exciting surface, but in this case the right side shows off beautiful expanding age rings and the left side is one of the best displays of sandblast bird's-eye I've seen. All those little pointy grain ends look terrific - Just check out the close-up view above. This was a two-toned staining job. The pipe was first colored a deep black via a natural process, not stain, and then carefully sandblasted over to bring out the highlights. The final stain is a new green that Emily mixed up a couple days ago during one of her extended immersions in the staining room... She always comes out with colorful fingers and several bottles of beautiful new tints. It's a dark green, very naturalistic and forest-ey, in line with our preferences for the color range of Goblin pipes. The horn stem is another of those handcut pieces we got from France, and is as beautiful as the rest - It really is a stunning material.
About the only problem I have with these Claw shapes is that they are bigger than my photography station! I had to modify my pipe mount to make it high enough just to hold these shapes aloft for pictures.
