Goblins
Goblin #9
"Nottinspine
"

Easily the biggest Goblin so far, Nottinspine has a decidedly feral-saurus, Godzilla-esque character about him.  He certainly used up a good portion of the briar in his block!  While Nottinspine is resting on the pumpkin in the pics to keep him more upright, he really will sit on his own.  He just leans back a bit and I wanted a view with the bowl pointing straight up.

Like the other Goblins, Nottinspine is colored with a variety of green stains to nicely offset the horn stem.  A green "slug" pipe seems like a really obvious choice - I don't know why I've never thought of this before.  It has a wonderful "living" sense to it, and seems like it would happily slither along the desk if left to its own devices.

Nottinspine also boasts some very nice ring graining, seen better in this close-up.  I think it's interesting that, rather than being tight and edgy, the ring patterning came out very thick and 'blobby', in keeping with the overal shape of the pipe.  Note that I hadn't stamped the pipe yet in this pic, as so commonly is the case.  Stamping pipes requires heating up the stamp for better accuracy and depth, so I tend to pile up pipes to stamp them all together, while the stamp is hot.

The horn stem on this pipe is another exceptional example of the material, with rich color depth and graining that only partly show in the photo.  Below is a shot of the amusingly gnarly underside of the pipe - natural plateau top that's been sandblasted clean to create an exceedingly slug-like bottom surface.
