Non-US buyers are responsible for all customs fees incurred in their country. "Out of Stock" messages during check-out mean that the pipe has already sold, but I have not yet updated the catalog page to reflect its "Sold" status. Shipping costs for items over $400 automatically include the cost for full insurance of the item during transit. |
A rather nice horn! I had this beautifully-grained plateau block with unusual grain layout, all gathered in one point up in the top right edge and flowing sideways, so I sketched the entire pipe around the flow of the grain and let nature style itself. This pipe is the home page sketch pipe for this month, and the original small sketches will be included with the pipe, for those who are interested in such stuff. I'd do this more often if A) I could remember to, and B) the design sketches weren't typically ruined with dust and stain by the time the pipe was done (This pipe's sketches are on a 3"x4" scrap of paper on the back of a grocery coupon, so don't be expecting framable art).
It's a remarkably flawless piece. It very nearly could have been a grade 5 if not for a tiny black dot that probably no one will find, but that little spot represents a $300+ savings. The design motif carries on my fascination with curves and organic flow that characterized similar pipes in the past like my Chihiro designs. It is, I think, rather Miyazaki-esque in spirit - Whimsical yet beautiful. Have a look at all of the photos, especially the gorgeous bird's-eye display across the entire front and underside of the bowl. It's a stunning pipe. The final color was chosen to harmonize with the handcut cumberland stem in both warm tones and contrast.
